Heart on Main Street Donates $10,000 to Support The Mix Mercantile Rebuild Efforts

Here at Heart on Main Street, our passion lies in supporting independent retailers across the nation. That's why our hearts went out to the beautiful town of Sulphur, Oklahoma, when a devastating tornado ripped through their Main Street in April, causing significant damage to beloved businesses.

One such business, The Mix Mercantile, was more than just a store – it was a local treasure. Originally a historic hardware store, The Mix Mercantile had been lovingly transformed into a vibrant gift shop, a true testament to Sulphur's rich history and entrepreneurial spirit.

Known for its bright red doors and welcoming atmosphere, The Mix Mercantile offered a delightful mix of products for everyone. Imagine browsing shelves stocked with unique clothing, charming home decor, and eye-catching accessories. Foodies would have delighted in their selection of gourmet, Made-in-Oklahoma food items. And for those seeking a touch of local history, there were even t-shirts commemorating the building's origins as a C. D. Hicks Tent & Tarp store!

But the real magic of The Mix Mercantile lay in its upcycled furniture, each piece given a new lease on life with a splash of Faux Real Mineral Paints. This commitment to sustainability and local artisans perfectly captured the spirit of Sulphur – a community that embraces its heritage while looking towards the future.

Heart on Main Street Steps Up – With a Helping Hand!

This past Monday, the Heart on Main Street team was thrilled to announce a $10,000 donation to support The Mix Mercantile's recovery efforts! This wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of our community. We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to The Boutique Hub and the many independent retailers who participated in the Crystal Media Evolve 2024 conference. Through their generosity, we were able to raise the full amount needed to make this impactful donation.

We believe in the power of small businesses like The Mix Mercantile to bring life and character to our downtowns. They're not just stores – they're the heart and soul of a community.
